Today I was taken back by the vast amount of knowledge out there floating around in peoples’ brains. I was learning/listening as 3 people discussed the technical aspects of a dock leveler. For those of you who don’t know what a dock leveler is… it’s one of these things:
basically… it’s the thing in the back of factories/warehouses/stores that locks the back of a semi-truck to the garage door… allows forklifts to drive in and out of the truck…

I can recall sitting on a pier with a lovely gal, a ballerina, as she taught me some history and technical aspects of her graceful craft. She was full of information on it.
My cousin could tell me all how to properly wire anything…
My old boss could tell me all about soils and what will grow where…
My friend could teach me how to build a guitar from start to finish… and make it worth a few thousand at the end of the proces… (because it sounds that good)
…kinda changes “people watching” a bit for me… wondering who knows what…
